Goldfield Ashes 2010

The 2010 GFA Carnival was a Milestone event in the Dazzlers sparkling history. The boys not only celebrated their 10th year of operations, but also extended their unbeaten run to 7 games and once again did not taste defeat for the entire weekend.

So the milestone weekend will now be known as the “3 & 0 Show – Part 2”.

As usual the event got off to a flying start with a crazy ‘Mad Thursday’. While a few of the boys seemed to do fairly well for themselves (albeit that they did not know where they were when they woke up…..), the night was soured by the loss of our Mascot and old mate Francis. In hindsight having the drunkest men in Townsville looking after him may not have been the wisest Team Selection in Dazzler history???

After many frantic calls to Townsville taxis we were not able to recover our mate. R.I.P. Francis, we all love you dearly. After discussing this terrible loss with Francis’s next of kin it appears as though we have been able to organise a replacement who will know be known as Francis 2.0. We look forward to another long and mutually beneficial relationship with our new Mascot.

The campsite stepped up in standards again this year with a fully enclosed marquee and air-conditioning!!!!!!!

The team enjoyed the benefit of bringing a basically unchanged outfit to this year’s carnival and the results on the field reflected some really solid Team performances. All Dazzlers contributed and we got over some really quality opposition.

We lost our way with a bit of Brand development and overall organisation, but have committed to a significant improvement in this for 2011.

Well done boys on a very successful 10 year anniversary event.

1st Days Play...

PM Games proved to be a curse as usual for the Dazzlers with many of the boys a little worse for wear by the time the game started. Even with that in mind the all important Day 1 win was achieved and the boys maintained an unbeaten record for the first day of any GFA carnival.

Rhino’s Aids cleared up and Waters partied with a fork under his bed, because he’s sexy and he does what he wants……..

We had a first (& last) appearance of promo girls in the Campsite on Saturday night and while this novelty proved a slight distraction it was the Team characters that stole the show as usual. Some great nude work by Blackers and Rhino featuring in the Mankini really overshadowed our visitors efforts.

2nd Days Play...

This day will go down as the longest day in Dazzler history!!!!

The Dazzlers first faced a very committed WHOGAF side. Not only were these guys some of the best blokes we have met at the Ashes (besides HARO of course), but they really stepped up the off field stuff turning up in a fully ‘Branded’ WHOGAF Hummer. Well done guys, great effort!!

This game was a really great contest and solid team performance (no 50’s for the Dazzlers for the first time?) saw the Dazzlers pull off a tight win.

Due to the soft cocks from HERBEVA withdrawing from the carnival lat the last minute, the Dazzlers were asked to help out by playing a second game in the afternoon. We fronted up to the airport fields t play Dimbulah Rugby Club. This was a really big effort for the boys to back up for a second game and even though it was hurting we appeared to be grafting out a really tough win. The game ended up being a washout and everyone except for Rhino could not get of the ground quick enough (except for Rhino who was playing the game of his life).

After an average display up town on the Saturday night, the Dazzlers hit Charters in full force on Sunday night. Massive drinking efforts and some insane nude table dancing from Rhino @ the ‘Sov’ really kicked things back into full effect…………

3rd Days Play, The final Day.

We faced Dimbulah Rugby Club (again!!) on yet another wet Charters Towers Day....Not sure if the win was as ugly as the painfully slow attempt at dismantling the camp site that went on during the game (lets hope that this does not costs Blackburn his Mgrs position, we here Butter is waiting in the wings……..).

Highlights for the day were 50’s from the Skip, Lachy and Waters and 35 solid over’s of fielding in the pouring rain, but the standout performances of the day were the VC coming out of semi retirement for an inspiring cameo in the field and Lachy mason taking the best catch imaginable while holding an umbrella!!!!!
