Goldfield Ashes
The Charters Towers Goldfield Ashes is an amateur
cricket carnival that has been conducted over the long week-end
in January since 1948.
This Carnival is conducted by the Charters Towers Cricket
Association Incorporated (CTCA), and it is now the largest
event of this type in the southern hemisphere.
2008 was the 60th anniversary for the carnival and the event
was recently given the status of being a Queensland Iconic
Event.
The Goldfield Ashes Objective:
‘The object of the carnival is to bring together from
near and far our fellow cricketers to participate with good
sportsmanship and friendly rivalry in the King of Games. We
welcome you and hope that your stay is a very enjoyable one.’
