History

The Dollar Dazzlers history started at in February 2000
The starting line up was as follows:

The DAZZLERS were formed from the ranks of various retailers in Townsville and the original intent was to build some team spirit in the Area more so than to have any far fetched goals attached to how the team would actually perform.

From very (very, very) humble beginnings this team has risen to be an absolute jugger-naught of sporting success.

The DAZZLERS have been operational for 17 indoor cricket seasons and have recently started competing in the Goldfield Ashes Cricket Carnival in Charters Towers. This carnival has been running for 70 years and is held over the Australia Day long weekend each year.

While early seasons in the world of indoor cricket proved to provide some very rare highlights the team did evolve from a bunch of sporting misfits into a highly competitive and aggressive unit.

Clever recruiting and internal development within the organization has seen this side evolve from part time pedestrians to full time killers!

After 8 seasons of torment and ongoing disappointments, including several devastating defeats in Major Semi Finals the DAZZLERS broke into their first Grand Final in Season 9.
Once the first ‘Granny’ was under their belts the Team determined that being ‘Premiers’ was the only acceptable outcome from a Season.

The Dazzlers would not taste Defeat in an Indoor Cricket Grand Final - EVER!

A never say die attitude and a commitment to excellence saw the DAZZLERS go on to Win their next 8 Seasons (contested) and progress through the graded ranks from ‘D1’ to be back to back ‘A’ grade Premiers.
It is widely known that a 1 on 1 match up of teams that the DAZZLERS have played in Grand Finals would indicate that the DAZZLERS ‘should’ have been soundly beaten in each game.

This was truly epitomized in the final ‘Granny’ when The DAZZLERS played a team that was compromised of many professional athletes. These athletes played in another team you may have heard of, the local NRL Team (North Queensland Cowboys).

The DAZZLERS ALWAYS want to win more than the next person or team and Are ALWAYS prepared to “PAY THE PRICE”!!
A side note to this was that while the DAZZLERS boast a record of ‘8 Straight’, after Grand Final win number 4, due to some proposed retirements, the DAZZLERS thought they would pursue sporting glory in another arena???

Sadly after a dismal display in a low grade touch football comp the DAZZLERS were inspired to head back to Indoor Cricket.
The Team’s spirits were buoyed by the return to Senior Cricket of “Rocket” Rod Thompson and upon the news of Rod’s addition to the Team several other high profile DAZZLERS were lured out of retirement for one more big push (that actually spread across the next 4 seasons).

The Team has not recently been competing in any indoor cricket competitions; however it is on the agenda to recommence this area of operations in the short term future. A full list of Statistics and Highlights of the Indoor Cricket Operation are detailed in other areas of this website.
In 2007 The DAZZLERS contested the ‘B2’ grade of the Goldfield Ashes Cricket Carnival. A very credible 9th place was achieved in the first year and the DAZZLERS are looking forward to improving this and contesting higher grades in the years to come.

Watch this space as in years to come the “DAZZLERS Cricket Club” will Transform in to the “DAZZLERS Group of Sporting Clubs” that will have multiple teams competing in Indoor Cricket, Outdoor Cricket and Netball competitions across several states.

This will be the launching point for a “Super Club” with limitless opportunities…………………
